Lambretta Dating Letter / Certificate
Dating letters or certificates should be obtained from a recognised club. Lambretta recognised clubs include:

Lambretta Club of Great Britain – http://www.ilambretta.co.uk/ – Registration is (UK) £20 (Overseas) £25. Another great site and team with valuable information on Lambrettas, clubs and much more. The forum is also very good. If you into Lambrettas, you should consider joining this club. Dating certificates are £10.
IMPORTANT – If you consider emailing these clubs or any others for information or advice (including me for anything), please remember that they are run by volunteers, who also have day jobs and go away on holiday. Please be patient and do not expect a prompt reply.

Photos of the Lambretta,
A photo of the frame number
A photo of the engine number (If one is installed)
Some clubs also require a frame rubbing to be sent in

Requirements on using a dating letter with the DVLA
A dating letter must be used with one year of the date that the club issues the dating letter. If it is going to be older than one year, by the time you send your V55/5 paperwork through to the DVLA, simply request a new one issued from the club. You may need to pay a small fee for a new dating letter to be issued.
The DVLA need to see an original (Not copy) Dating letter. Photo copies cannot be used and you application will be rejected if you send a photo copy to them.
When sending your dating letter, it is important that your Lambretta frame matches the dating letter and the V55/5 application information. Any discrepancies in this area will result in your application being rejected. An example of a rejection may include:
A Lambretta LD frame number is LD125 123456.
The club letter states 123456
As the club letter is missing LD125, the application will be rejected.
You may want to consider sending your dating letter and documents to the DVLA via recorded delivery.
An inspection may be required prior to your V5C being allocated. The V5C is sent separately to your other documents.
The other documents – The DVLA claim to send back after the V5C is sent. V5C have always been issued and received. My other documents (Photo copy of proof of ID / original dating letter) – This has not always happened to me and I must therefore assume that the documents have either been lost in the post or not sent.
