Where possible and if I have a smooth surface with no problems, I use the gasket only / with no sealant.
If I have problems with the surface (having chips in it anywhere), I use Hylomar Universal Blue (100g) Tube Fuel Resistant Jointing Sealant with no gasket. Infrequently, I have used both a gasket and sealant, depending on if I need to use a thick gasket, and where the surface has chips in it.
If you have smooth surfaces, consider gasket only.
