Lambretta Needle Bearings & Bushes – Example of an LD Torsion Bar Bearings & Bushes

Work also being carried out in this area and during 2019 are all LD part numbers and parts that are identical / interchangeable for all makes and models of LD’s
Summary:
In the early days, Needle Bearings were used on Lambretta LD’s with grease lubrication being applied via a grease nipple at the end of the Torsion Bar (Hexagonal Grease Nipple). Nowadays however, Needle Bearings are hard to find for Lambretta LD’s and Bronze bearings are used instead.
While oil is used in exceptional cases, solid bronze bushings are typically grease lubricated. Lubrication reduces friction and wear by separating a wrapped bronze bushing from its shaft, or torsion bar in this example. Grease should still be applied via the hexagonal (large silver) grease nipple. The torsion bar has a hole in the centre that allows grease to gain some access to the bronze bush.

Although I use Bronze Bush Bearings, I also look out for reasonably priced Needle Bearings. I have found none to date. Currently under Review is the following link (External Site Link)
